How to use Binder

Binder keeps your links in order: a binder holds topics, a topic holds links. Here is the whole thing, step by step — then how to send pages in from your phone.

Step by step

1. Create a binder

A binder is the top shelf — one per project, interest or client. Start with a single binder like “Career” or “Recipes”.

2. Add topics inside it

Topics divide a binder into sections — “Interviews”, “CV”, “Companies”. A topic can hold subtopics too, if you want a finer split.

3. Save a link into a topic

Every link lives inside a topic. Paste the address, give it a title, add a note if it helps. You can create a new binder or topic right there in the Add link screen.

4. Share from your phone

Reading something on your phone? Tap Share and send it straight into Binder — the address and title arrive filled in. Setup takes a minute, once.

5. Edit, re-file, remove

Open a link to change its title, note or address — or move it to a different binder, topic or subtopic. “Remove from here” clears just that filing; “Delete everywhere” clears all of them.

Set up sharing from your phone

Set this up once and any page you're reading can go straight into Binder's Add link screen, with the address and page title already filled in.

Android (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Samsung Internet)

  1. Open Binder in your phone browser.
  2. Open the browser menu and choose Install app (or Add to Home screen), then confirm.
  3. From any page, tap Share — Binder now appears in the share sheet.

The share sheet entry only shows up after Binder is installed to your home screen — that's how Android works.

iPhone and iPad (Safari)

Apple doesn't let web apps join the iOS share sheet, so on iPhone you add a one-time Shortcut instead. It takes about a minute and gives you Add to Binder in the share sheet.

  1. Open the Shortcuts app and tap + to create a new shortcut.
  2. Open the shortcut's settings (the info icon) and turn on Show in Share Sheet. Set the accepted input to URLs only.
  3. Add the action Text and paste this into it, leaving the end open:
    https://binder.digitalfriend.club/app?url=
  4. Tap at the end of that text and insert the Shortcut Input variable, so the address of the page you share is appended.
  5. Add the action Open URLs and point it at the Text output.
  6. Name the shortcut Add to Binder and save it.

Now: Safari → Share → Add to Binder. Binder opens with the link ready to file. iOS shares the page address; the title is filled in for you when the browser provides one.

You can always add a link by hand from the dashboard — this just saves you the copy and paste.
